  • Beauty and the Beast may be my favorite Disney animated movie of all time, and Belle my Disney princess.

But this scene from Aladdin has got to be my favorite scene/duet from all the Disney animated films, ever. I was channel flipping late last night. And although I wanted to catch the replay of the Project Runway 4 WWE episode, I also tried to watch Aladdin. Especially this scene.

It is a very good BONUS that Lea Salonga did the female vocals. But just a bonus. I really love this song. The lyrics, the melody, the carpet ride. Sigh. =)

I can show you the world
    Shining, shimmering, splendid
Tell me, princess, now when did
You last let your heart decide?

    I can open your eyes
    Take you wonder by wonder
    Over, sideways and under
    On a magic carpet ride

    A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
    Or where to go
    Or say we're only dreaming

    A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But when I'm way up here
    It's crystal clear
That now I'm in a whole new world with yo...

David Archuleta's studio recordings rock! Go Archuleta for the

Now THIS was what I was talking about when I said that David Cook can and should do a song straight up... Oohlala... I added the studio version, which didnt upload successfully yesterday. It has a way better ending than the performance

I always knew sabog si Paula.... she slurs her words..her comments dont make sense sometimes...she claps like a seal....

But this, this takes the cake. This should get her into trouble... Watch the video on this page and see for yourself.

    http://www.rickey.org/?p=7779

After one round of songs, the judges were asked to comment. paula started commenting about jasons SECOND song even before it was performed. duhduh. Nagsulat na kasi siya ng comments during rehearsal. She tried to save herself, but when the time came for her to comment on the 2nd song (for real this time), she still kinda said the same thing...

Bad bad bad... I knew the judges have certain tones in mind for their comments, and this could affect voting, but still, nakakahiya naman ginawa ni Paula. She is so lost...

Maybe she is a member of the Gucci Gang...high siya eh. hahaha

OMG!!!! For as far as I can remember, whoever gets Paula's pick for the Top 3 performance week gets the boot....

And this year, it's David Archuleta!!!  sheeeeeeeet! Oh no, the show wants him gone?? This is not good, especially since news broke that his OVERBEARING STAGE DAD has been banned from rehearsals. He is no longer allowed to go to David while he learns his song for the week. Apparently, that GOOD IDEA last week of inserting a Sean Kingston line into his Stand By Me performance was Daddy's idea....but not allowed by the show since they would have to pay a different song producer to use a part of that song...and since he still did it... daddy gets in trouble... good thing David did not get into trouble himself. damn.

This will be the biggest shocker of all American idol seasons if he goes this week. I mean, Syesha beating him at votes? No one will believe that,

    Go David Archuleta!

Letter 3 from BEETHOVEN to his IMMORTAL BELOVED Good morning, on July 7 Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us - I can live only wholly with you or not at all - Yes, I am resolved to wander so long away from you until I can fly to your arms and say that I am really at home with you, and can send my soul enwrapped in you into the land of spirits - Yes, unhappily it must be so - You will be the more contained since you know my fidelity to you. No one else can ever possess my heart - never - never - Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves. And yet my life in V is now a wretched life - Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men - At my age I need a steady, quiet life - can that be so in our connection? My angel, I have just been told that the mailcoach goes every d...

I lost sleep because of these extra 19 holes. But it was all good. Seeing Tiger win the most exciting Major, and carry his 1 year old Sam on the 18th green afterwards was sweet.

Woods outlasts Mediate for third Open, 14th major

By DOUG FERGUSON, AP Golf Writer 21 minutes ago

SAN DIEGO - With a throbbing knee and a pounding heart, Tiger Woods made one last improbable escape Monday and won the U.S. Open in a 19-hole playoff over Rocco Mediate, his 14th career major and maybe the most amazing of them all.

One shot behind after a collapse no one saw coming, Woods birdied the 18th hole to force sudden death at Torrey Pines against a journeyman with a creaky back who simply wouldn't go away.

But that one extra hole was enough to doom Mediate, trying to become the oldest U.S. Open champion at 45 years, 6 months.

He put his tee shot in the bunker at No. 7, knocked his approach off a cart path and against the bleachers, chipped some 18 feet past the hole and missed the par ...

I know this is late for Fathers Day. But it's ok. This was worth the wait. The University of The Philippines has been busy celebrating its 100 years with many events. And although your favorite event was probably the Special Oblation Run on June 18 by 100 members of APO, mine was last Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.

My dad was among the 46 alumni honored by UP for their pioneering work in their respective fields. It was a different kind of alumni homecoming for me, because I watched my dad go up the stage, receive his own little Nude Man, shake the officials hands, and then raise his mini Oblation in the air in jubilation. Oh and yes, in classic UP style, he also did not stand still on stage while the rest of the awardess were called one by one. He shook other people's hands, chatted, laughed and turned his back to the audience for a bit. Hehe. Cracked me up.

My dad was fanatic about his alma mater back when he was a student. That was in 1966 to 69. he graduated cum laude in E...

This year's Wimbledon Championships were marked by the top womens seeds falling to Zheng Jie, the Chinese girl who has been donating her winnings to her earthquake-stricken hometown of Szechuan, the return of the highly talented but also highly volatile Marat Safin, the win of a British girl in the juniors division for the first time in decades, yet another uninteresting Sister Act Womens final coupled with the Williams sisters domination of the Womens doubles, and last, but not the least, the much-awaited meeting of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in yet another grandslam final.

This was them before the match. Little did they know they would be providing us with the best tennis match we have witnessed for as far as we can remember, complete with 2 very ill-placed rain delays, and lasting til 9pm in the evening.

I was hoping Roger would be able to avenge the carnage at the French open some weeks ago. But alas, it was Nadal's dreams that came true this fort night.

Nadal won in 5 sets, 6-...

Michelle keeps things down to earth

Roger Simon Tue Aug 26, 1:03 AM ET

DENVER — Could the Democrats be about to nominate the wrong Obama?

Well, probably not. But Michelle Obama, Barack’s wife, gave an awfully good speech at the Democratic National Convention here Monday night. While Barack can sometimes soar off into the clouds, Michelle tends to keep things down to earth.

“The Barack Obama I know today is the same man I fell in love with 19 years ago,” she said. “He’s the same man who drove me and our new baby daughter home from the hospital 10 years ago this summer, inching along at a snail’s pace, peering anxiously at us in the rearview mirror, feeling the whole weight of her future in his hands.”

She was describing a simple moment, a real moment, an emotional moment and one that made only one point: Barack Obama is a human being just like you. He is not an “other,” he is not a “celebrity.” He is a father, a husband, a person.

Michelle went on: “And as I tuck that little girl a...

    The King is Back.

To see him hit those forehand and backhand winners... And approach the net successfully.

To see him go for every ball that a very talented young Mr. Murray would send him.

To see him fall to the court and shed a tear or two after realizing what he had just accomplished.

To see him kiss the trophy.

    Priceless.

Once again, students being approved for graduation even if they did not meet the requirements to graduate.

    http://www.petitiononline.com/pshss/petition.html

I have signed the petition. Standards have to be upheld. School pride has to have meaning. Efforts for four years have to stand for something.

If the BOT is regretting the 1/3 rule to graduate, they should revoke it. Not eat their words by letting failing students graduate.

Damn, no wonder Matt did not have a moment during the AI finale. I was wondering about that. I mean, Lil got to do a duet with Queen Latifah, and she was 7th.

It's election time in UP Diliman. And just as the country is longing for change, I believe our beloved UP should too. And although I cannot vote anymore (my student number just has 7 digits, enough said.:p), I support one candidate for USC Chair with PRIDE. BENG VILLAMIL.

    Why, you wonder.

I was Beng's Fourth Year Adviser and Biology teacher in Pisay and came to know him well, which was fortunate for me.

Beng was not at the top of his batch, but I found him to be smart and inquisitive in my class. He had the smarts to easily understand bio lessons and score high in tests, but more importantly he had the street smarts to apply those lessons and connect them to more universal concepts. He always asked good questions, Beng was a real thinker. Naturally curious, good at problem solving.

So of course I wondered why his grades weren't as stellar as one would expect with such intelligence. The answer was simple: Beng was more about the learning than the grade. And being such, had other interests ...
